Board Effectiveness Review

  • Meetings 

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month commencing at 8.00pm.  Agenda, reports and relevant information should be forwarded to Trustees 4-5 days prior to the meeting.

Ahititi School is obliged to abide by the Local Government Official Information and meetings Act 1987

Meetings of Ahititi Board of Trustees are open to the public, with copies of the agenda available. Times and places of Board and Committee meetings must be published with reasonable notice, in terms of Section 46 of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

A resolution or motion may be passed to exclude the public from the whole or part of the proceedings of any meeting, in terms of Section 48 of the Local government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

Bona fide reporters for any newspaper or news service are deemed to be members of the public and are entitled to attend any meeting or any part of a meeting for the purpose of reporting the proceedings for any newspaper or news service.  They must withdraw with other members of the public when the Board of Trustees goes into Committee.

Minutes of the meetings are available at the schools office.

Any member of the public may inspect the minutes of any meeting, or part of any meeting of the Board of Trustees (not being a meeting or part of a meeting from which the public was excluded) and may take notes from these minutes.

Any member of the public so inspecting any such minutes who requests a copy of any part and tenders the prescribed amount (if any) shall be given a copy.

The Secretary of the board of Trustees is required to take such precautions as may be necessary to ensure that no person inspecting any such minutes shall inspect or see the minutes of the part of the meeting from which the public was excluded.

Policy will follow the review procedure on the yearly timeline

BOT members are provided with a policy/procedure folder

Read to make sure information is still relevant.  Make necessary changes as required

Consultation as required – Principal/Staff other BOT members and school community

Language clear

Present to BOT meeting any recommended changes or suggestions for further consultation/action

Review yearly strategic plan in Term Four.

Curriculum review will be delegated to the principal




NAG 2A: National Standards & Reporting

Reporting to Parents:

 A mid- year report will be sent out reporting on progress in reading writing and maths

Comprehensive written report at end of year reporting on all curriculum subjects.

Opportunities for further discussion and meetings will always be available on request if parents contact the teacher to arrange a suitable time.

Reports should be expressed in simple, clear, honest and positive language.

Teachers will report on student progress in all  learning areas of the NZ Curriculum in  Annual Report.
